BUSAY FALLS

Tucked-away deep inside the barrios of Malilipot, Albay is Busay Falls, a favorite gathering place for the locals, especially during the hot summer months (March - June).  The water plunges approximately 91 meters from its highest point, and the last 40m cascade is visible from the clear shallow pool at the bottom.

          Although Busay is smaller in size when compared to other popular waterfalls in Albay, the enclosed surrounding area, the forest canopy and sound of the plunging water  makes for a cozy and relaxing ambience. It is largely undeveloped.

Getting there. Busay Falls is located approximately 20km north of  Legazpi City, about 20-minutes drive by car on smooth paved road. The turnout from the highway is well-marked. After the turnout, driving an additional 2km on mostly non-paved road is a short, but scenic drive through the barrios and rice fields.

          While the roads after the turn-out are not paved, they are easily navigable. 4x4 vehicle is recommended during the rainy season (June - September), where the road can get very muddy.

Parking. There is plenty of space to safely park your vehicle approximately 100m from the location.
 

Restrooms. None available.

Fee. Minimal. Barangay I collects P5 per person (US$0.10)

When to go.  To enjoy the peaceful ambience of the Busay Falls, weekdays and early mornings are the best time to go. Weekends on the summer months (May-June) tend to attract more visitors.

What to bring. Bring plenty of water especially during summer months. Food and Refreshments are not available, so bring your own. Snacks and refreshments can also be purchased in the nearby barrio "sari-sari" stores, on the way to location.

Attire/ Foot Access. Busay Falls is only about 100m from the parking area, so not a lot of walking is required. Rubber soled-shoes and comfortable attire are highly recommended to navigate the rocky and slippery terrain that surrounds the pool.
